Jeff's Biography

 

Jeff is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT).
His Vista, California practice focuses on marriage, family, and child counseling.  He also practices in Sorrento Valley and Encinitas where he treats members of the local community, conducts training sessions and seminars for men’s groups, pastors and other’s interested in healthy life-long learning.  Concurrently, Jeff teaches and consults with senior military leaders from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps at the Navy’s Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific Command, in San Diego, California.  In that capacity, he consults with facilitators, modeling and simulation experts who create simulated wargames for the senior military commands in the region.

 Jeff developed and co-led a monthly consortium style men’s group with his senior pastor called “Keeping It Real”.  This blended approach of Science and Theology is aimed at a group that is comprised of men from various churches around San Diego County.  The group is oriented toward developing relational intimacy in committed relationships and avoiding the temptations of self-medication from substances, addictions and acting out styles of behavior.

 He specializes in the area of Performance Enhancement strategies for athletes, business professionals, members of the U.S. Military and other performers.  Additionally he specialized in using Brain imaging technology in the treatment of Substance Abuse, High-Risk Behaviors, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, Eating Disorders, Sexual Addiction, Men's Issues, Depression, Anxiety, Incest, Co-Dependency and Treating ADHD.  Additionally, Jeff enjoys working with couples by helping them build or rebuild connection, trust and intimacy. 

 Jeff served his country with 21 years of honorable and dedicated service in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He received extensive training in hand-to-hand combat, survival skills and small arms tactics as an infantryman and scout sniper.  Following the completion of his undergraduate work and receiving a regular commission, he trained as a bombardier / navigator in the A-6 Intruder attack jet and later transitioned to the F/A-18 Hornet – a modern day, fourth generation jet fighter.

 Jeff holds an Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science, and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from National University, in San Diego, California.  He has completed his doctoral course work in Clinical Psychology and is in the process of defending his dissertation with Ryokan College in Los Angles, California.  He has previously taught psychology courses at Park College, St. Louis, Missouri.

 He is a member of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Marriage & Family Therapist), California Association of Marriage & Family Therapist, California Board of Psychology, California, Psychological Association, and the Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA).

 Jeff networks with the Recovery Assistants Foundation in Santa Ana and with the Amen Clinic of Newport Beach, where he provides assessment and evaluations of SPECT Scan Brain Imaging and provides patient, family & community education and follow-up care.

Jeff is an avid fitness and nutrition expert and regularly engages in extreme sports activities for healthy recreation.  He has been married to his high-school sweet heart, Marie for 27 years.  They reside in Oceanside, California with their 4 children.
